Writing Workshop by Corinne Riepert and Katherina Gorodynska

In this workshop, we will use textiles as a method for experimental writing, working between material, language and collective writing. Together, we will approach writing and publishing as process-oriented, shared practices rooted in material and linguistic experimentation.

Taking textiles as our starting point and working method, we will engage with various forms of text about, from and through textiles, examining how writing can be re-woven, reshaped, entangled and knitted anew.
Participants will receive an email in advance containing a small selection of texts and a writing task. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

*Corinne Riepert* is an artist based in Cologne working across installation, performance and writing. With a background in fashion design and art, her practice explores the relationships between body, labor, care, consumption and textiles. She primarily works with gleaned fabrics collected from public spaces, drawn to their traces of use and the narratives they evoke. Interested in the porousness of textile and language, she approaches writing and textile-making as parallel practices shaped by rhythm, repetition and the hand. Collaboration and participatory formats are an integral part of her practice. Her work has been shown at Kunsthalle Barmen in Wuppertal and as part of the project Bedarfsgemeinschaft in the Ruhr Area, as well as through workshops at Temporary Gallery in Cologne, among others.

*Katherina Gorodynska* is an Amsterdam-based artist working with text, performance and installation. Her practice explores memory and language, and the instability of both. Interested in poetics and performance, she has developed a practice that centers writing and the voice as medium and materializes alongside performance and text in sculptural works. Drawing on research into the Soviet children's game Sekretiki ("Little Secrets"), in which small colourful objects were buried in the ground, she examines how memory and language are passed on when material objects are absent. Where no archive remains, voice, body and the unconscious become vessels of narrative in her work. Alongside her artistic practice, she has been co-directing the literature- and performance festival in Cologne.
